WHO SHOULD GET A BIKE FIT?
A bike fit is applicable for ANY rider wanting to get the most enjoyment out of their bike riding. Every rider is unique, so a unique bike setup is required for every rider. A bike fit is a holistic process to help riders understand both their own functional movement patterns and their interaction with their bike. Your fit shows you how you move and why you move the way you do. Your bike can then be personalised to optimise your performance, comfort and overall enjoyment on the bike. Whether you just want to be comfortable on a weekend ride or out to win a race, there’s a bike fit for every rider.
HOW DOES THE MOBILE SERVICE WORK?
Foundation aims to make bike fitting as accessible as possible. If you would like to arrange a mobile bike fit, get in contact with us and we’ll discuss your needs and get you to fill out a pre-fit questionnaire. Once a location and time for the fit has been agreed, we bring a turbo trainer, measuring / analysis devices, bike tools and new components. We will analyse your cycling in real-time and make adjustments to your bike as appropriate to achieve a bike position that allows your body to move the way it wants to.
WHERE WE TRAVEL TO
Foundation is based in central London and can usually travel to any requests within the M25. Send us a message if your fit location is outside of London and we can see if we can accommodate your request. If your fit location is within central London and we will travel to you by cargo bike. More distant locations will be reached by car which may narrow your choice of fit times but where we can, we will travel by bike. Finally we can also consider special requests, such as fits on training camps abroad or events. Locations beyond the range of cargo bike may be be subject to an additional fee. HOW LONG DOES A FIT LAST?
Basic Fit: 1.5 hours
Standard Fit: 2-3 hours
Full Fit: 3-4 hours
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO A FIT?
– Your bike (Clean please!)
– Your usual cycling / triathlon kit
– (women should wear their usual sports bra they use for cycling in, triathletes should wear their tri shorts)
– Your bike shoes & cleats
– (check your cleats are not worn out – replace them before the fit if they are worn)
– A towel
– A bottle of water
HOW HARD WILL I BE RIDING DURING THE FIT?
The fit analysis is done at mostly a moderate intensity. However you will be required to pedal for brief periods at a high intensity. You will sweat if you are indoors on a turbo, so having a towel and bottle of water to hand is useful. Make sure you are rested for the fit as it can be mentally challenging too.
HOW DO I PAY?
You can pay by cash or card on the day. All major cards are accepted.
WHAT IF I NEED TO PURCHASE NEW COMPONENTS AS A RESULT OF THE FIT SESSION?
We have a range of items available for purchase on the day such as stems, shims, wedges and saddles. We can also advise on the purchase of alternative items if you prefer. We can fit new items on the day if we have the required items or arrange a future fitting if items need to be ordered in.
WHAT IF I HAVE A SECOND BIKE I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE FITTED AT THE SAME TIME?
Have two bikes? No problem, we can set up your second similar bike during your fit for £75. Allow an additional hour for this extra fit. If your second bike is of a different style to your primary bike e.g. road bike + Time trial bike, the additional cost is £100.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL OR POSTPONE?
We’ll attempt to do everything we reasonably can to accommodate your schedule but if you need to change your booking please give as much notice as possible so we can best arrange an alternative appointment. Cancellation within 24 hours may be subject to a fee.
